Agree With Me Or Die
A report from Guardian.co.uk says that James Hansen, a climatologist, will speak before the U.S. Congress today and will call for executives of oil companies to be
put on trial. The charges? High crimes against humanity which is defined in this article as spreading doubt about global warming. At the time of this writing, whether he will or will not speak and exactly what he says remains to be seen.
Spreading doubt is not a crime. As a matter of fact, being able to speak freely in this country is a badge of honor. And I may add that those who do speak publicly against global warming are subject to derision and worse. Rex Tillerson, the CEO of Exxon who spoke against global warming is one of the most courageous men of our time. He has been subjected to the gang mentality of hoodlums. And I am positive that the shareholders expect him to pay lip service to global warming. Why lip service? Because most of them don't believe it either and they know that their share prices can be affected by bad press.
If the CEO of Exxon ever gets put on trial for "spreading doubt", we will be living in a regime far worse than any the world has ever seen. This kind of request before congress should be laughed right off the floor. It won't be.
"Spreading doubt" means that he is not falling for the hype and misinformation and scare-mongering that the global warming alarmists are spreading. Spreading doubt can be as simple as I don't understand.
We need more people like Mr. Tillerson who is not afraid to speak up. Because so far we are semi-free. We will not be able to survive if dissension is made a crime. No one in America should have to tout the party line.
